So, Today I’m going to talk about something extremely random
and something literally related to my childhood.
These things are animal rights and Pokemon, respectively.
Anyway, It's been awhile, I haven't played this for long time seriously.

| Can't believe I'm still keeping these. X)) |
Well, I'm not gonna talk about how Pokemon Gameboy
series have given me such a wonderful and fantastic childhood, but since it has
already became a memorable past tense in my life, I would like to share
about my thoughts on ethics and morality of pokemon flashing back umpteen years
as in an adult perspective.
Pokemon is a game developed by Nintendo where your goal is
to travel through towns as a ten year old kid, obtaining creatures with
special abilities and battle them with other Pokemon obtained by competing
NPC(Non-player character) trainers.
An imaginary reader might now ask: if Pokemon are forced to do
battle, does this make them victims of animal cruelty?
Anyway,
speaking of mentality development of pokemon, they're actually more intelligent
that animals in the real world. They tend to think and interpret things well. Therefore, how its owner treats it would definitely affect its
mental development. Most of the pokemon do not talk as we know.
However, they show a clear understanding of what is being said and what is
going on actually. So, as in my opinion they are considered as animal but with
a higher IQ scores.
Nevertheless, a biggest ethical issue in this game is still, what's the
status and position of pokemon from a perspective of human? Are pokemon your
slaves or your 'loyal friend'? as you use them to battle in this game.. This is
a very important issue that most people tend to ignore. I mean as a child, we
have been familiar that pokemon are usually kept in a small balls, and call
them out to beat each other up. Slavery? or Love?
'Why do pokemon compete and battle so hard for you? They do so because
they can see the love and trust you have towards pokemon. Never forget that.' said
Professor Oak as in the beginning of the game. So, meaning that pokemon are so
loyal that they're willing to battle for you?
Anyway, consider the fact that animals fight with each other
all the time. They fight with members of other species when they feel like
their life is threatened, just like normal animals.
But they
don't die, they just merely faint. Think further, they do not die, but they could be mentally and physically damaged.
With the
raise of this ethical issue, PETA(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)
has dedicated to create an online webpage video game named, 'Pokémon Black & Blue, Gotta free 'em all' , in which pokemon in this
game are trying to release themselves from their cruel nasty trainer with
the intention of showing humanity in a better way. You can have a try for
this game at below.
But
seriously, I bet, even if you were their side, thinking that pokemon
shouldn't be 'abused', you would often think that they're way too
INSANE anyway.
For me,
THIS IS EVEN MAKING THINGS MORE CREEPIER SERIOUSLY -,-
Pokemon
world is world that every pokemon freak has ever dreamt to be in. HOWEVER, It's
freaking VIRTUAL. It's just a game. So, are children being told to forced their
animal to fight as in the game. Or children are educated to pour their
love to their pet since their pet are so loyal to them as in game, pokemon
are so loyal to fight just for you and for no reason?
It
totally depends on how and in what way you perceive
this issue.

hello adrian,
ReplyDelete"'Why do pokemon compete and battle so hard for you? They do so because they can see the love and trust you have towards pokemon. Never forget that.' said Professor Oak as in the beginning of the game."
that statement alone brought back memories of my brother and me watching the first pokemon movie, the one with mew 2 in it.
maybe you can include the part of the video when ash was turned to stone and pikachu was trying to revive him. this really showcases the love and compassion of pokemon towards their human counterparts.
overall very informative, and very true about the mistreatment of pokemon(if they were to exist)
it would be interesting if you can post about the myths and glitches of pokemon games, that would be an interesting read :D
